The Commercial Sheet Metal Journeyman is responsible for fabricating, assembling, installing, and repairing sheet metal components used in commercial HVAC systems. This role ensures proper airflow, system efficiency, and structural integrity across a wide range of commercial and industrial projects.
Journeymen work on large-scale systems including ductwork for office buildings, retail spaces, and industrial facilities. Responsibilities include interpreting blueprints, measuring and cutting sheet metal, assembling duct sections, and installing systems according to specifications and building codes. The role also involves sealing and insulating ductwork to improve energy efficiency and system performance.
Candidates must demonstrate strong mechanical aptitude, precision, and the ability to work independently or within a team. Experience with fabrication tools and equipment is essential. Strict adherence to safety standards is required, especially when working at heights or on active construction sites. Effective coordination with project managers and other trades is critical for successful project completion.
What you’ll be doing
· Fabricating sheet metal ductwork using cutting bending and forming techniques
